Zhongmu Watermelon - Zhengzhou is a major area producing watermelon in China, with a high yield and superior varieties. The watermelon sells well across the country. Especially, Zhengzhou No. 3 used to gain an international reputation for its crisp and refreshing pulp, rich juice, sweet flavor, less fiber and high sugar content. In 1991, the fine varieties of Zhengzhou 8902, Zhengzhou 8901 and Zhengzhou 8903 bred by the Zhengzhou Fruit Tree Research Institute respectively won the first, second and third prizes in the first national meeting for watermelon assessment.
