Hainan island has a prosperous growth of pineapple. Generally, pineapple trees can yield after 4-6 years of cultivation. They blossom in spring every year and fruits mature between summer and autumn. The weight varies but some can reach 20 odd kilometers. When it matures, its scent penetrates and spreads all over the area. Its gold-like flesh is as sweet as honey, crisp and delicious with a high content of sugar, fat and protein. The kernel can be stewed with meat to cure women's shortage of milk after production of babies.
